I Firmly Believe

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about leaps of faith, the beliefs different people hold, and how in general, my own belief is that the capacity for great evil exists in all humans, especially when we get together in groups.

I think leaps of faith are human and necessary, since our brains are not inherently logical systems. Problems occur when we tilt at windmills and fail to realize that is what we are doing, but hey, no one gets to be perfect, and no one can be right 100% of the time, or even 90% of the time, usually. You’re lucky if you get it right at least 50% of the time, honestly.

This is just what I believe about the nature of humanity. It is deeply flawed, beautiful and horrifying at the same time.

One thing I abhor, however, is when people choose to ignore their own humanity, attempting to place all evil firmly in the court of the other. I think the only real sin is to believe you are incapable of sin.
